This year’s Teen Choice Awards saw plenty of big names walk down the red carpet to collect prizes, and as usual, a number of YouTubers were among them.
Lilly Singh claimed this year’s Web Star female and Web Star Comedy award, while the Dolan twins grabbed victory with the Web Star male and the Choice YouTuber prize.
Canadian YouTuber Lilly now has over 9 million subscribers to her name, and continues to entertain viewers with a mix of comedy sketches, interviews and vlogs.
We are creators who own businesses and are here to stay
Unfortunately, Lilly was out of the country and couldn’t attend the event in person, but she did post what would have been her speech on Instagram, saying: “We are creators who own businesses and are here to stay.”
Bethany Mota picked up the Web Star award for Fashion and Beauty. This is the second year in a row that the online personality has claimed a prize after winning the Web Star Female award last year.
Cristina Grimmie, who was tragically shot and killed in June, was awarded the Web Star Music prize. However, the event’s organisers has caused some controversy after making no mention of Christina, even during the #StopTheViolence campaign aimed at tackling gun violence.
