VidCon 2015: 10 YouTube panels worth checking out

VidCon 2015 is fast approaching, with around 300 big-name YouTubers expected to attend this year’s event (from July 23rd to 25th) at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.

A huge number of talks, Q&As, on-stage interviews and business discussions from industry experts are scheduled throughout the 2-day event. Luckily for you, we’re here to pick out 10 VidCon 2015 YouTube events that you really should be checking out.

Ask Joey!

Date and time: July 23rd, 9.30am – 10.30am

Description: “Ever wondered how Joey comes up with ideas, how he keeps his hair on point, or how he maintains his rigorous upload schedule for his vlog? Well, now is your chance — come ask the man behind one of YouTube’s most popular channels anything you want”.

Our thoughts: After a busy year on YouTube most recently promoting his new book, In Real Life: My Journey to a Pixelated World, Joey will have plenty to talk about. Such an enthusiastic, warm YouTuber is bound to be entertaining for anybody heading to his VidCon 2015 panel.

Gaming with LDShadowLady

Date and time: July 23rd, 2pm – 3pm

Ticket needed: Community

Description: “Come watch LDShadowLady play some video games live!”

Our thoughts: Minecraft-loving LDShadowLady recently surpassed one million subscribers on her YouTube channel and Lizzie’s success shows no signs of slowing down. We recommend joining Lizzie for a fun, laid-back afternoon enjoying some videogames with one of the UK’s rising stars.

Vlogging: Standing Out and Finding Your Style

Date and time: July 23rd, 12.30pm – 1.30pm

Ticket needed: Creator

Description: “Video blogging as a format is well established, so finding your own style is more important than ever. A variety of creators discuss how to stand out as a vlogger, since starting a vlogging channel involves deciding what image you want to present, how much of yourself to show to the audience, and how to grow with your community over time”.

Our thoughts: It’s becoming tougher than ever to ‘break out’ on YouTube considering the influx of new channels. This vlogging panel at this VidCon 2015 will answer some questions for newbies looking to stand out from the crowd.

Interview: Louise Pentland (Sprinkle of Glitter)

Date and time: July 23rd, 2.30pm – 2.55pm

Description: “Interviewed by Drew Baldwin (Co-founder of Tubefilter and The Streamy Awards)”

Our thoughts: For passionate beauty gurus looking for tips on increasing views and building an audience, the ever-joyful Louise Pentland is ready to share some advice. Pentland recently released her own book, so she clearly knows her stuff.

Philip DeFranco and Sourcefed Q&A

Date and time: July 24th, 9.30am – 10.30am

Description: “Come join us and ask Philip DeFranco and the SourceFed gang anything and everything you want.. well almost anything”.

Our thoughts: The Sourcefed team have always been a delight to watch at VidCon and the on-stage banter between the crew makes for a great show. Expect Philip DeFranco, Steve Zaragoza, Will Haynes and Bree Essrig to make you chuckle.

Interview: Toby Turner (Tobuscus)

Date and time: July 23rd, 3.30pm – 3.55pm

Ticket needed: Community

Description: Interviewed by Darren Franich (Entertainment Weekly)

Our thoughts: Toby’s excitable and often uncontrollable personality is marvellous to behold. Tobuscus is a YouTube veteran with a limitless understanding of the video-sharing website, so we’re expecting some interesting insight from the energetic entertainer.

Grow Your Channel (Analytics)

Date and time: July 24th, 11am – 12pm

Ticket needed: Creator

Description: “In this hands-on workshop we’ll show you how to measure success using YouTube Analytics. We’ll look at key reports that can help you answer questions such as “do audiences like my videos?” and “Are subscribers watching my videos?” so you can decide where and how to optimize your channel. Be sure to bring your laptops and YouTube Analytics log-ins so you can follow along and apply learnings to your specific channel”.

Our thoughts: YouTube isn’t always about being silly. If you’re willing to put your business hat on and learn about how to squeeze even more views out of your uploads, this VidCon panel is bound to be invaluable.

Date and time: July 24th, 3.30pm – 3.55pm

Description: “Interviewed by Trisha Hershberger”.

Our thoughts: Franta just recently announced his new record label, so the YouTuber certainly has some exciting tales to tell his biggest fans. The American YouTuber oozes confidence and makes for a great host.

Description: “Come hang out with all the Shaytards at their official VidCon Q&A! Shay, Colette, Gavin, Avia, Emmi, Brock and maybe even Daxton will be on stage taking your questions on Twitter and live from the audience. So be ready to bring some thought-provoking inquiries to learn everything you want to know about the Shaytards!”

Our thoughts: Everybody’s favourite YouTube family always put on a great show at VidCon. Each member of the SHAYTARDS will have their time in the spotlight and Shay and his family will be open to answering questions from their biggest fans.

Interview: Oli White

Date and time: July 25th, 5.30pm – 5.55pm

Our thoughts: British vlogger Oli White isn’t afraid to make himself look rather silly, which is why we recommend you take a look at his VidCon 2015 panel if you get the chance.
