Top 5: YouTube Pets

Animal videos have a special place on the internet and it’s safe to say that YouTube is bursting with furry footage.

Cat videos are among some of the most popular uploads on the video-sharing website, whether the little rascals are hiding in boxes, pulling funny faces or making weird noises.

It’s no surprise, then, that some pets have managed to steal the spotlight from their human owners. To celebrate our animal chums, we’ve put together a list of our five favourite YouTube pets.

1. Gryphon (Tobuscus)

Perhaps one of the most lovable dogs on YouTube, Gryphon is a mini Shih Tzu and belongs to popular YouTuber Tobuscus (Toby Turner).

Gryphon has appeared in countless videos and has even had his own content on the channel on numerous occasions. He shows up in many of Toby’s ‘Lazy Vlogs’ and is also included in the ‘Tobuscus Adventures’ animations.

The adorable dog also makes a cameo appearance in the Tobuscus Adventures: Wizards mobile game.

2. Edgar and Pugachan (PewDiePie and Marzia)

Maya, better known as Puga, is the pet of PewDiePie and Marzia (CutiePieMarzia) and has featured in many of the pair’s videos, often voiced in a high-pitched tone by PewDiePie himself.

It didn’t take too long for the one-eyed pug to be joined by another pug, called Edgar. The two dogs first met each other shortly after the YouTubers moved to England and their appearances in videos have become more frequent.

Marzia’s channel occasionally features ‘Ask Edgar’ and ‘Puga Knows Everything’ videos, where Twitter followers can ask the pugs questions.

3. Maru

Maru may be one of the biggest stars on this list as he had to really work hard for his fame, without the help of a human YouTube personality to spice up the content.

The videos are uploaded by his owner and feature Maru playing with a variety of different toys. His adventures include playing with string, climbing frames, cuddly toys and boxes. Maru gained a new friend in 2013, when a kitten called Hana was introduced to the family.

It’s fair to say that Maru has secured himself among the many other purring greats on the internet, alongside other felines such as Keyboard Cat and Grumpy Cat.

4. – Zoey and Marley – CTFxC

Zoey and Marley regularly appear on Charles Trippy’s Internet Killed Television vlogs, which he has been uploading every day for over 6 years.

The older of the cheeky pair, Zoey, was born in December 2005 and was eventually joined by Marley, who was born in September 2007.

The dogs have proven so popular with CTFxC viewers that Charles released Zoey and Marley plushies that can be bought online. Just a quick search of the two pups brings up hundreds of gifs and images on Tumblr.

Both dogs have their own Twitter accounts, too. Madness!

5. Grumpy Cat

Grumpy Cat (real name Tardar Sauce) was first introduced to the internet back in 2012 when she was only five months old and it was love at first sight.

The cat’s trademark miserable face led to widespread internet fame for the feline and the original Grumpy Cat video now boasts over 18 million views. There’s plenty of videos on the Grumpy Cat YouTube channel for anyone who can’t get enough of Tardar Sauce’s antics.

Our fluffy friend even has her own movie called ‘Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever’ which was released in November last year.
